Weekend Preview

Well its certainly a North Bolton Football day as both Eagley teams on Saturday  play neighbours Turton in a double Derby Day! The Eagles first team are away in the Lancashire Shield to the Chapeltown side, whilst the reserves entertain them at home.  For years the local sides have never met apart from the odd cup match, but this season both the 1st team and reserves ply their trade in the West Lancashire Premier League, and West Lancs Division 3 respectively, so each team now have two opportunities to play each other with the 1st team also getting the plumb cup tie in the Amateur Shield.

It is believed the Derby to be the oldest in footballing history, so please come up to Thomason Fold to support local grassroots football whilst making history!  The 1st team kick off at 2pm whilst the reserves at 3pm, so both allowing you to watch the other ‘little’ derby game first before the real one begins. With both Simon Whaley and  Neil Hart’s men wanting to progress to the second round, its guaranteed to be a ‘good en’! Gary Kay will also be looking to make his mark on the local football so please give your support in which ever game you can attend..

Also, the Bolton and Bury District junior league kicks into action this Saturday with the all new Eagley under 18’s making their first appearance at home at Dunscar to Walkden. And under the new management of Des Morris they will be hoping for a good start to their campaign, with a 10.30 KO . Whilst we wish all the other Eagley junior sides the best of luck in all their games, and let’s hope they can bring success to their opening day.
