Eagley 4 Whitehaven 0

The Eagles continued their winning form after sweeping aside new comers to the league Whitehaven 4 nil.

The visitors made the long trip down for the first time to the Dunscar Ground but were soon under pressure from a changed Eagley side from Tuesday’s win against Turton. A debut was given to 16 yr old Matthew Bradford, and back in came Dillon Ashton, Joe O’keefe, and Mark Carroll.

After Eagley shot stopper Tom Macdonald pulled off a great save at the back post on 15 minutes, he was not really troubled thereafter, and on 25 minutes forward Ashley Watson found himself with just the keeper to beat, and with the help of the inside of the post, slotted it in for 1 nil. Soon after,  a great cross into the box found the head of Mark Carroll who’s rising  bullet header was into the top corner for 2 nil, and that’s how it remained at the interval.

Eagley came out with much of the same and apart from about 15 minutes of pressure the vistors were lacking in ideas. Then player/boss Whaley received the ball and run on to push it past the keeper for 3 nil, which more or less sealed the win.

Young substitutes, Jake Horner and Miracle Gospel making his debut for the Eagles replaced some tired legs, and with 5 minutes remaining Gospel made a strong run and pushed the ball around the keeper, giving the 16 year old  the dream debut and the final goal confirming the 4 nil win and a great afternoon.

A jubilant Manager Whaley said ‘We’ve had a great week at the club and got 6 points, so I’ve told the lads to keep enjoying it and work hard and the rewards will come. Dillon (ashton) came back in today and was great, defending so well, as did the rest of them. We’ve some good young players at the club now and for Miracle to get a goal on his debut was fantastic! Hopefully we’ll take it onto Euxton on Tuesday night.’

The reserves meanwhile had no game but entertain locals CMB on Tuesday night down at the Dunscar Ground with a 6.45pm kick off. Before the 1st team travel to Euxton on Tuesday evening again at 6.45pm.
